One of the most highly prized qualities of diamonds is their extraordinary capacity to transmit light, brilliance and scintillation and produce by natural means the glamour and sophistication so dear to those who choose this gemstone.

Round, heart, oval, marquise, pear... it’s widely believed that shape is what identifies the cut of a diamond, whereas in fact the cut determines a diamond’s capacity to interact with light. It’s the faceting, which only a gemcutter is able to sculpt, that makes the dance of these two lovers - the light and a diamond – so extraordinary.

And the music of this dance springs from the harmony of proportions, symmetry and polish that only extreme precision and fine artistic sensibility can exploit to maximum effect, guaranteeing the magnificent rendering of light that only Recarlo diamonds can offer.

The heart shape, an exclusive hallmark of Recarlo creations, is the most difficult to achieve because of the subtle play of balance and detail required in its fabrication. To execute this diamond cut to perfection, there are always two cutters, one right-handed, one left-handed. Each using their dominant hand, they will cut the heart’s right and left bellies, respectively, to ensure maximum precision and give the heart the most harmonious and balanced shape possible.

The part of the diamond where the two lobes come together is so small and delicate that it has to be cut with a laser, an instrument that ensures maximum precision and must therefore be used by expert hands so as not to risk irreparable damage to the gem.
